ETERNAL MAJESTY "Wounds of hatred and slavery" (Appease Me/Candlelight) 2006

Here is finally the successor of the brilliant "From war to darkness" released 3 years ago on Battlesk'rs Productions. Of course there was "Night Shadows" (review) to give us some news from Eternal Majesty, but it was time to have something more substantial. For that, the band has signed a new deal with Appease Me (the label of Vins from Blut Aus Nord) and Candlelight. As for the line-up, no changes of course and it's a good news, because one of the real force of E.M. is the cohesion of its members (they are brothers) that you can deeply feel in their music. So, let's talk about this new present! First, I have to say that this album is a masterpiece of cold and technical Black Metal! It's really rare to find a Black Metal band who really manage to give to every songs its own personality... Eternal Majesty knows how to do it, each songs is a full-fledged entity and is impregnated of this cold atmosphere. Tracks like "Night Evilness" (who alredy featured on "Night Shadows"), "The last march of the crucified", "Corrupted shadow" and "Through the mist" are pure jewels. Nothing is anecdotal here, even the interlude "Hatred" (in the middle of the album) represent a strong moment of "Wounds of hatred and slavery". The use of keyboards is really judicious and only contribute to the coldness and grimness of the album. The technical mastery is again really impressive and makes "Wounds of hatred and slavery" a must in the style!
