ETERNAL MAJESTY (Interview 2006)

| 2 years after the excellent "From war to darkness", Eternal Majesty is back with a new Mini cd called "Night shadows". And this time we won't have to wait 2 years for a new release, cause the french horde is preparing right now the successor of "From war...". Sagoth answered my questions about "Night shadows" and the future of Eternal Majesty...
What have you done between "From war to darkness" (2003) and "Night shadows" (2005)? This period was one moment of total detachment and it was also an important moment of work for us.
It seems that there is a strong alliance between the Eternal Majesty members! It's scarce, nowadays, to see a band keeping the same line-up for years! We are brothers... that certainly explains this special link between us.
Ok, let's talk about "Night shadows", your new release. The spirit is still the same than on "From war to darkness" and we easily recognize the Eternal Majesty style! The big difference is the production.... on "From war..." it was really powerful and clear... on "Night shadows", it's harsh, raw and sounds more old school! Why this change? It's not really a change for us! We didn't choose to be more "raw", it's certainly the sound which gives this impression. The sound will be different on the next album....
There are interludes between songs; Is there a small concept behind "Night shadows"? All the work of Eternal Majesty is based on a logical continuation. Our next album will follow the same concept.
As I said in the review, the 3 songs are quite different. "Don't follow me" is a raw fast song, "Night evilness" is more epic and reminds me the excellent "Le christ roi"; As for "Crossing the stream of inferno", it has a 80's touch à la Bathory (first and second album). Are you agree with me? Is "Night shadows" a good representation of the future album? Indeed, our music moves between several influences, but I don't think this cd reflets our next album. It's a simple demo which gives an idea of the band's musical evolution.
Is there a chance to see "Night shadows" on a vinyl version? (The picture LP of "From war..." was great). Some people thinks that... but I think they can wait a long time, this MCD will remain limited to 500 copies. We did it by simple pleasure and for promotion. It's not a collector MCD but a simple demo of the band on cd.
Can you talk to me a bit about the label you have created with Thorgon, Diahableries? How happened the cooperation with Rising Darkness for the release of "Night shadows"? Diahableries is an association founded by Hssh, Thorgon and me to promote experimental musical projects in France. To avoid any collaboration outside of us, we have chosen labels close to the band. The band needed to take distances with the French black metal scene to focus on its music.
You have just signed with Candlelight! How this happened and what are your first feelings? I was in contact with Vins of Blut Aus Nord and Appease Me since a moment. It seems that we have the same vision on what must be musical art. We spoke about the future of Eternal Majest; I sent a cd with new material to Candlelight and Appease Me... Both appreciated our work; It's at this moment they have have decided to sign us. For the moment we are satisfied with these labels. I have a total respect for their work... I think that it will be interesting to work with Candlelight/Appease Me.
I didn't have the opportunity to see you live. So can you describe to me a typical Eternal Majesty show! With which bands did you prefer to share the stage? It's difficult to speak about our concerts... we see that from inside, public is the best judge.
Maybe few words about your electro dark side project with Thorgon, Autolyse? Autolyse is a side project of Thorgon and me. We create a dark musical world. This project allows us another expression of the music... to know some more about this project, you can visit our official MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/autolyse
What are you listening to at present? What do you think about the present black metal scene? At this moment?? I listen to indus music, noise, electro projects, experimental music, black metal and blues; no limits...
Your plans in the near future! The recording of our next album which sould leave during the year 2006 and to continue our work far from all.
Ok Sagoth, thanks for your time! Final words are for you and keep up the good work! Thank you too for this interview and your support... http://perso.wanadoo.fr/eternal_majesty/
