SATANIC WARMASTER/KRIEG

Picture 7" (Ltd to 500 copies, Darkland Records) 2004

What a nice picture 7'' released by the German label Darkland records, the artwork is excellent! But what can we listen on this split? Both bands offer to us one track recorded on April 2003 for Satanic Warmaster and on August 2002 for Krieg. Let's start with Satanic Warmaster, I'v never been disappointed with the band's previous releases, and it's not with "Hold on to your dreams" it will happen! This song sounds typically Satanic Warmaster and could appear on "Strength and honour" or "Opferblut". But the good surprise is this break à la Dissection. A very good song. On the other side, Krieg has done a great job as well! "The sick winds stir the cold dawn" is an efficient mid-tempo track with a huge cold and melancholic atmosphere. I must say, the beginning of this song reminds me a lot the beginning of  Satanic Warmaster's "Farewell to the fallen" on "Opferblut". Only two songs, but what do you want? 4 average tracks or 2 excellent songs! Very good release.
