Lord Sargofagian (Calvarium, Black Death Ritual, ex-Satanic Warmaster, ex-Uncreation's Dawn) is back again with his own band and a second album "Morbid wings of sathanas". After some releases (a MLP"Wisdom and hate" (review), a split 7"" with Uncreation's Dawn (review) and the "Black ceremony" picture 7" ep), it was time for Baptism to give a successor to "The beherial midnight" (released on 2002). I can say "Morbid wings of sathanas" is the best Lord Sargofagian's effort so far. This album has a strong unity, I mean, each title seems to be the continuity of the previous one and when you listen to "Morbid wings of sathanas" it's like listening a long track with different stages. But during this listening two tracks are above. "The worshipper" and its oppressive mid-tempo, and the title track with its clear vocals à la Quorthon ("Twilight of the gods" era) and the great heavy metal riff (smack-dab in the middle of the song). A great cold and dark black metal piece. This album is the work of an odd man out... Absolutely indispensable!
P.S. There will be a vinyl release of this album but no dates annouced.
