Kataplexia is back with a new album two years after "Morgue's reality" and with two new members. Rodrigo Fatality (who played all the instruments in the first album) is now helped by Davi Moreira (guitars) and Mikael Da Costa (bass, ex-Carcase Inc.). And this trio has managed to create a fuckin' great brutal death metal album. I didn't enjoy so much a brutal death metal album for a long time, too many bands nowadays are so boring that after 2 or 3 songs you're already sleeping. But the 7 songs of "Catastrophic scenes" are the work of a band who knows how this kind of death metal must be played. Kataplexia alternates fast and mid tempos brilliantly, the breaks are fearsome and the low growls of Rodrigo are impressive. And what can I say about the technical mastery of these three guys, majestic! I could use all the superlatives to describe this masterpiece, but the best thing to say is just "get it"! With such an album, it's not surprising that Xtreem music (ex Repulse records) signed Kataplexia. Definitely a great album!
