ADMONISH "Isnjärd"
ADMONISH « ISNJÄRD » (MOMENTUM SCANDINAVIA 2006) MCD LTD 850
This release is an excellent surprise as I didn’t know this band. Admonish comes from Sweden and was formed in 1994 but their first release (a EP) appeared 11 years after, in 2005. So let's talk about this second EP; First of all, the cover is superbe as well as the rest of the artwork of the booklet on glossy paper. But of course, the most important thing is the music and on this point Admonish is impressive. This Mini cd begins with “Tower of strength” and you just need one listening to be captivated, a majestic dark black metal with a cold melodic touch. Then comes “A glimpse” an instrumental à la “The somberlain” followed by “Istid”, this track could have been featured on “The somberlain” as well but don’t get me wrong when I say this. It’s not a copy but a track that have the feeling and the scarce quality to be featured on this masterpiece. “Journey into the afterlife” is another great track and sounds more like the first one (more Black metal). “Isnjärd” ends with the instrumental “Legacy”. This Mici cd is a masterpiece, of course the comparisons with Dissection (especially because of the song “Istid”) will be numerous and justified but Admonish has the merit to keep alive this Death/Black metal (I’m talking about the music and not the lyrics as Admonish doesn’t share the same beliefs than Dissection) and do this better than anyone, so respect.
