PRIMITIVE GRAVEN IMAGE "Hellish Figurines" (Autoproduction) 2006
Hailing from England, P.G.I. is the creation of 2 brothers, Dokkalfur and Ljosalfur. "Hellish Figurines" is the first band's release and I must admit that I'm really impressed by the quality of these 5 tracks (+ one intro). This demo begins with "None shall stand" and its excellent heavy metal riff, followed by "Of what we have become" combining mid-tempo à la Carpathian Forest and fast-tempo, very good track! "The journey to the forest" is a fast song with shouted vocals, a true jewel à la Baptism and Satanic Warmaster, excellent! With "For all mankind", the band shows again its heavy metal influences (from the 80's), while the very good black/thrash of "Blood red heart" ends this demo. P.G.I. with "Hellish Figurines" delivers a varied black metal but always with an old school touch. The band has already a deal with Open Grave Records and will release its first album in 2007 (hopefully with more tracks à la "The journey to the forest).
